General

Rolltrack is a mobile phone based solution for schools to streamline roll taking.

It is a requirement of the Ministry of Education that a students presence or absence from school be recorded in the morning and afternoon. This data is usually then entered into the schools student management system, with reports generated to be followed up by form teachers or truancy officers

Many schools use a system of "runners" to collect class rolls and take them back to the office for data entry. There can be a delay of 1-3 hours between when a roll is taken in class and the information being acted on (truanting followed up and parents called).

Using the Rolltrack system a teacher takes the roll using a mobile phone or PDA, when the teacher submits the roll, it is automatically entered into the schools Student Managament System within minutes.

Any truant students can now be followed up within minutes, not hours. There is also an option to automatically phone or text message (SMS) parents.
